  • I'll be there
    • Alright, sounds like Dallas is gonna take over Austin for a few days!

My students are going to come, too!
      • I would like to attend the drum workshops. In order to make that happen I need a roomate &/or someone to travel with and share expenses.
The only people I know that are going are guys. Anyone interested please send me an e-mail.
        • Hey Deede who else from the Isis drum camp will be attending?
          • I will be there. I am even considering doing the imrpov contest....It scares me a little though. I'm not very good at improv, but I do need something to force me into trying to get better at it. See ya there!
            • You should do the improv contest! Like you said, it'll grow you in a good way (unlike queso which gows you in a bad way). If you enter as amateur, you'll get a listing/CD of source music so you're not going out there cold. Amateur is defined as an intermediate level dancer with some performance experience who does not regularly earn money from teaching or performing with the exclusion of tips or meals or monies won at competitions.

The crowd is really supportive. and best of all, you have a shot at winning $150 cash plus prizes! I'd do it if I wasn't producing the event (a teeny conflict of interest).
              • Time is running short! Only one more week until the Red HOT Deal -- the entire weekend for one great low price -- and the Drummer's Deal -- all the drum classes for one low price -- expire on Tuesday, May 13th! Classes are filling up, so now is the time to pounce on this and make good use of the economic stimulus check!

Also, there is a HUGE convention in Austin that weekend, so you'll want to book your hotel rooms this week. Just call the hotel direct at 512/341-7000 and ask for the Austin Belly Dance Convention rate.
                • Hey Ladies!
Time is also running out on the deadline for entering the HEART OF TEXAS BELLY DANCE CONTEST
There are not enough dancers at this time for either category to make... so, if you've been thinking about it you should go for it now!
There are categories for Amateur and Professional.
The entry fees are low; $40 for Am, $60 for Pro.
The cash prizes are $150 Am and $300 Pro.

You can register for the contest here: www.austinbellydance.eventbrite.com
Complete rules are available upon request. Just email abdc@bahaia.com
                  • This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
This is my encouragement for attendees to join the contest :)
It is a great contest, y'all! I had so much fun! As a matter of fact, this was one of my favorites, if not THE favorite that I have ever done, and I've competed all over the country in about 15 different competitions! It's great! I like it so much because it was stress-free! I didn't have to worry about choreography or even the music. We didn't know what was going to play when we got up there (sounds scary, but not really - more like freeing) and we didn't know what our bodies were going to do. So it was "in the moment". The art of improvisation is slowly becoming a dying art in belly dance - this contest is all about improvisation - the way belly dance is supposed to be performed in its truest essence! Bahaia is doing a great thing holding a contest like this. You should do a great thing for yourself and push yourself "into the moment" and free yourself by competing! I always view contests as competitions with myself mainly (like "Can I achieve this or that!?) (and a little with my competitors - in a totally nice and open way!) It was so fun AND friendly! Come on and give a try!
                    • Hmm I can still roll my belly pretty good

                      S
                      • The RED HOT DEAL (the entire weekend for one low price) and the DRUMMER'S DEAL (all the drum classes with SOUHAIL KASPAR for one low price) has been extended until midnight Friday, May 23rd!

This ain't no supercenter discount store-sized seminar.....class sizes are truly limited, so you have to act fast before we sell out!
