She is based in Seattle right now and does a lot of different folkloric styles. I'm kinda leaning a bit towards doing more folkloric to round out my dance background.

I've started Sahra Saeeda's Journey to Egypt intensives (1 and 2 have been completed . . . JtE2 was in San Diego a week ago) but am also looking at other teachers.

I suggested Khadeja and Mustapha for Ahlan Cairo Nights and, based on the feedback, they were well received. I kinda hoped that would happen since I loved them so much when I attended workshops taught by them a few years ago. I wish it was easier to get them back in this area but flying 2 ppl from Germany is expensive. I had so much fun in the Nubian class this time and wish I could have squeeze in more classes (alas, Aida and Lubna are favorites too along with Zahra!!).

So just wondering if anyone else might be interested in Helene. Even a few ppl, we might be able to bring her in for a small intensive if there is enough interest.

Just bouncing ideas . . .

  • She is going to be in Butte, Montana on August 29th. I am really looking forward to the workshops.

This is what she will be teaching.

The first workshop will include Cocek Roma Dances from Macedonia and Manea Roma Dances from Southern Romania. These are workshops numbers 12 and 13 on the website.

The second workshop will consist of Dances of the Ghawazee from Upper Egypt. Number 6 on the website.

She has a very extensive number of possible workshops in an incredible number of folkloric styles. www.helene-ericksen.de/
