I'd kinda like to go to this, but I don't know if I can swing it this week - that'll make three nights in a row I'm out of the house - don't want to start a riot, lol.

Because we know only a small amount of it is going to the dancers!!!

Well actually, I don't know that - I have no idea what these ladies are making. But I do know that $32 is a LOT of moolah for me this week. I've got dental work on Wednesday to pay for. *sigh*

Oh dude, I feel you. I have a horse to shod, puppy to feed, man to feed, and that's just a little outta my budget right now!

Have fun getting your chompers worked on. Never a pleasant event!

Thanks Magdelena, but I've already got my ticket for Monday night. I'll post a little mini-review here later.

                        I wish I was going :-(

My dogs EACH had a $1300 surgery last week (ACL repair for both) and I got in a hit and run accident on Wednesday (yep- same day) that I will end up having to pay $250 out of pocket for.

Just couldn't justify it when we're eating PB&J or bologna at my house, ya know?

Let us know how it was.

Well I liked *parts* of it. From another review I read, though, I was expecting a very authentic type presentation of belly dance with more emphasis on folk elements. But I would say it was heavy on the fusion, with some rehashed numbers from previous shows. I liked the first show I saw years ago (I think it was their first tour) a lot more.

                            I was sorely disappointed.
I have seen 4 shows now and this had the least production valaue for me. It did not flow from set to set and seemed very broken.

I appreciated their attempts to add different styles and change up the chroeography but it felt like it wasn't as cohesive as I have seen it before.

The tribal girls seemed to be enjoying themselves and I think they did a great job. Some of the other dancers barely smiled or seemed less than interested that they were performing for us. However, that could be because the theatre was less than half full and I have seen larger turn outs at local Kismet events. I am sure that it is a downer for a large professional group to travel to perform and exepect large sold -out audienences and you get a half sold, tiny theatre to perform too. However, they shouldn't let it show on their faces.

The debke number??? I didn't get that at all. bad costuming that didn't fit or seemed to be falling apart and not appropriate for women.....they have actual women's debke costuming...use it!

I really appreciated the new costuming for the desert roses and some of the main dancers and I think they have done a wonderful job with that.

The last 4 songs seemed to flow most like the previous shows I have seen did...I wonder if those are Jillina's influence and choreos...those few performances were the only ones that footed the bill for me.

For me though, the 4 main cabaret dancers do not have the stage prescence and strength of performance that ladies like Jillina have. Miles may think she is too old to put out there or has been on the tour too long...I want her back.

I myself didnt attend but I do know that whether you have an audience of 200 or 2 you still put forth the same amount of energy. I have done shows at Scarborough that filled all the way to the lane and shows in a downpour for 3 people in their yellow slickers. Both shows had the energy. The rain one had a few more comedic momets due to dancers slipping but still we went out and entertained! That to me is part of being a professional entertainer.

I've already talked to people who really enjoyed it, so I guess it's just a matter of opinion. I'm excited to go tonight!

I liked the upgraded and diverse costuming, especially for the Roses. They looked really nice and cohesive. Several of the numbers, especially in the first half did not flow like shows in the past have, but I understand there have been guest choreographers and when members come and go on tour, there are always changes. I did not like the sword/debke number. It was almost comedic I thought; maybe that's an idea to add a comedic element again. Also, there were several numbers where a duet and a trio were presented with one or two performers being tribal and one being cabaret. I do like this idea, but the choreographies fell a little flat for me on those numbers too. Shoot me now....but I still like the Polynesian number :) To each his own ;) The ballet fusion leaves me a little cold. I would like to go back to the shows with more music diversity. Many of the songs seemed like they would work for any genre, very fusion. I do like the changing backdrop, but does it have to be so techno/trance vibe feeling?!

Overall, I was still entertained. It is hard to put out a really great show everytime and I appreciate the effort of the choreographers, performers and staff for trying it year after year. What would we have if they didn't?

This was the first BDSS show I've attended and I had a good time. But I don' t have the other shows to compare it to.

                                      Lauren rocked.

my apologies to those I was sitting with and around. It was so nice to not be behind stage (and giddy to see Lauren) that I was that audience member that OoooOOOoo'd and squealed nearly the whole show. I'm surprised Katy didn't put one of her pretty boots in my mouth to shut me up.
