Ii am hoping that some of you may be able to recommend a good workshop that would be a driving weekend trip from DFW. LA, AR, AL, OK, TX (of course).

I am looking to broaden my horizons a little bit without breaking the bank.

Doesn't have to be coming up soon...just looking for options even for next year.

Someone here will know the name of the group, but there's a troupe in OKC that always has a good workshop instructor every year. A zillion years ago we did a girls weekend up there for Zahra Zuhair!

OOO! Yes, there are scads of workshops right in this neighborhood, not least of which is Dare to Dream. I know Silvia pretty well. You'd love her. Tribal Alchemy is two weeks later, with Mira Betz and Elizabeth Strong, two of the most knowledgable dancers in Romani and North African folkloric out there (among many others of equal quality). 3rd Coast is in January, and there's an elegant sufficiency of fantastic teachers there. I know you know of Ya Halla :-)

One of the teachers at 3rd Coast is Shamsi, and she's out of NO,La, and Baton Rouge. Good friend of mine. She dances with a veil like it was part of her body. Absolutely amazing. The ladies at Urban There's some others that I'm thinking of but I need to get to my puter tonight.

Yes, I attend and enjoy most area workshops assuming that they fit my schedule and finances allow. I adore Jim Boz and I will be at Dare to Dream...and I will also be attending Ya Halla Ya'll and am going to try to make John Compton and am terribly upset that I can't make Cairo Nights. I am even probably going to attend 3rd coast for the first time...

All of that being said, I am looking for weekend trip workshops...A chance to get away with the girls and have a little belly dance adventure...

      Thanks :)

That sounds like a nice trip...I will keep it in mind but Oct is shaping up to be very VERY busy for me and Just Fab...but things do change, if things loosen up then maybe that could work.

Is this a workshop that is run on a regular schedule each year. If we can't swing it this year we could put it on the schedule for next year?
