Dallas' smoking ban did a serious number on their hookah business.
Come to Al Amir - Addison to see bellydancing and enjoy Lebanese cuisine (hookahs still available)!

Re: Al Amir's Greenville location is closed
Sun, August 23, 2009 - 7:03 PMHonestly --- I don't know if the smoking ban/hookah was actually the problem. The place was so run down, and we didn't have good service the last time I was there.
Entertainment was fabulous, of course. ;o) -

Re: Al Amir's Greenville location is closed
Sun, August 23, 2009 - 7:17 PMunfortunatly its not in the best neighborhood.
I still think hookah;s should be exempt
They are basing this whole smoking thing on cigarettes.
Its funny what we deem neccesary to close down and what we choose to keep open

Re: Al Amir's Greenville location is closed
Wed, August 26, 2009 - 8:05 AMYou can smoke hookahs at the Addison location and they do have a smoking area. It's still okay in Addison....but who knows for how long :(

Re: Al Amir's Greenville location is closed
Wed, August 26, 2009 - 2:23 PMI've heard from several of my Arab friends about the Dallas ban and the ban proposed in Richardson. A lot of them, not all, are considering it as a racist move to put them out of business, and out of competition with the other restaurant owners. -

Re: Al Amir's Greenville location is closed
Wed, August 26, 2009 - 3:33 PMI think there has been smoking a lot longer than the new fad of hookahs........ geesh.
Everything is pink when you wear rose-colored glasses. -

Re: Al Amir's Greenville location is closed
Sat, August 29, 2009 - 4:44 PMExactly! I think they are just trying to use discimination. Maybe they should point the finger at poor service, declining food quality and a bad economy instead of racism.
*rolls eyes*
And let's be honest, the majorty of smokers aren't Arabs. It's average joe white dude at the bar. -

Re: Al Amir's Greenville location is closed
Mon, August 31, 2009 - 7:35 AMI haven't been to the Greenville location in quite a while. Last couple of times I have been there, it was packed. $10 cover to get in, too. Things change in the restaurant business faster than a bellydancer's costume, sometimes. ;-) -

Re: Al Amir's Greenville location is closed
Mon, August 31, 2009 - 5:44 PMI remember the waitstaff would rotate out every 6 months when I worked restaurants.
